Madagascar - Biodiversity hotspot under threat - Exhibition
The island of Madagascar is one of the most important biodiversity hotspots on the planet. Nearly 90 percent of the species living on the island are endemic and are only found on Madagascar.
There are almost as many plant species on the island as there are in all of Europe; however, despite its rich natural environment, Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world.
Continuous logging of forests and soil degradation threaten the biodiversity of the island and are also a challenge to the island’s agriculture-dependent population.
Exhibition infoboards and plants are in the greenhouses.
